Ngorongoro Crater

Another UNESCO World Heritage Site is the Ngorongoro Crater. This is an impressive geological wonder, the world's largest intact volcanic crater. The crater was formed approximately 2 to 3 million years ago by the collapse of a volcano, forming a near-perfect circle with a diameter of about 20 kilometers and a depth of over 600 meters. Today, the Ngorongoro Crater is a unique ecosystem that supports an extraordinary diversity of plants and animals. The crater walls are covered with lush vegetation, including dense forests, savannahs, and swamps. Within its interior, you'll find an astonishing concentration of wildlife, including elephants, buffalo, rhinos, lions, leopards, and hippos. You'll experience this fascinating wildlife up close on your game drive in the crater.

The Ngorongoro Crater is not only a paradise for animal lovers, but also an important site for the conservation of biodiversity in Tanzania. Its spectacular landscape and abundant wildlife make it a truly unforgettable experience on this tour. With a bit of luck, you might even encounter one of the now very rare black rhinos.
